The UAE and India have deepened their commitment to sustainable industrial development with the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Emirates Palace. The MoU, inked by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Piyush Goyal, India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, paves the way for enhanced cooperation in industrial investments, technology transfer, and the deployment of critical technologies across various sectors.

This collaboration is set to bolster both countries' economies through joint efforts in industrial and technological advancement, with a special focus on priority sectors. These sectors include advanced industries, energy transition solutions, healthcare, and space, where the goal is to foster innovative and sustainable solutions that support climate neutrality and sustainability objectives.

The MoU outlines seven key areas of cooperation:

  1. Supply chain resilience: UAE and India will identify opportunities for raw material supply and share best practices in industrial enablement and incentivization.

  2. Renewable energy and energy efficiency: Collaboration to advance renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency solutions.

  3. Health and life sciences: Joint efforts in pharmaceutical development, biotechnology, and research and development.

  4. Space systems: Cooperation in space-related technologies and initiatives.

  5. Artificial intelligence (AI): Collaborative projects and knowledge sharing in the field of AI.

  6. Industry 4.0 and advanced technologies: Advancement of industry 4.0 technologies and other advanced industrial innovations.

  7. Standardization and metrology: Joint initiatives in setting industry standards and metrology practices.

The partnership extends beyond industrial and academic collaborations to encompass joint research and development projects. Furthermore, both countries will exchange best practices in science and technology policies, fostering an environment of shared growth and innovation. This comprehensive MoU sets the stage for a dynamic and mutually beneficial partnership that will drive sustainable industrial development in both the UAE and India.
