A new regional hub for surgical education has been established in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson MedTech at Rama Lab of the Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute (CNMI), a part of the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. This represents a significant milestone in advancing clinical excellence and hands-on training for healthcare professionals across Thailand and the broader Asia Pacific region.
“Our collaboration with Johnson & Johnson MedTech reflects a shared vision to elevate surgical standards through education and innovation,” said Clinical Professor Dr. Arthit Angkanon, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ramathibodi Hospital. “By leveraging Rama Lab’s advanced facilities and Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s global expertise, we are creating impactful learning experiences that elevate standards of care throughout the Asia Pacific region.”
This 400 sqm state-of-the-art facility, established through an exclusive three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CNMI and Johnson & Johnson, is located on the 5th floor of CNMI’s Clinical Anatomy Building. It empowers healthcare professionals with innovative, immersive learning experiences that combine real-world clinical practice and expert instruction. The center is designed to meet evolving clinical needs and includes state-of-the-art simulation environments, such as a fully equipped operating room with surgical lighting and a dedicated VELYS™ robotic-assisted training space. It also provides versatile spaces, including a lecture hall and hands-on lab accommodating up to 50 participants, as well as mid-sized and focus group rooms for smaller workshops and discussions, fostering a dynamic environment for both foundational and advanced surgical training.
The APAC LearningCenter’s official opening was marked by the Johnson & Johnson MedTech ACE Solutions in Motion Summit, which took place from 14–15 June 2025 at Rama Lab as a first-of-its-kind highly specialized educational event to help improve surgical skills and expertise in Knee Arthroplasty in Asia Pacific.
