Waters Corporation announces the addition of a new Photodiode Array (PDA) detector for its Alliance iS HPLC System, enhancing the extensive capabilities of its next-generation intelligent HPLC platform. The new PDA configuration supports a broad range of routine QA/QC analyses and pre-release quality testing of small and large molecule drugs, food & beverages, raw materials, cosmetics, and other personal care products.

Key Highlights:

  • The PDA configuration complements the existing Waters Alliance iS Bio and Alliance iS Tunable Ultraviolet (TUV) detector configurations, providing even greater flexibility to support routine QC workflows and pre-release testing.
  • All Alliance iS HPLC configurations are backed by built-in system intelligence features that reduce errors by up to 40%.
  • Purpose-built for QA/QC labs to achieve faster, more reproducible data, saving resources and improving analytical throughput.

Since its launch in 2023, the Alliance iS HPLC System has empowered QC analysts to boost efficiency and reduce or eliminate up to 40% of common user errors, saving time lost by investigating the source of failed runs and out-of-specification results. Waters now offers customers three Alliance iS HPLC System configuration choices to support a broad range of QA/QC applications:

  • NEW Photodiode Array (PDA) detector with spectral analysis capabilities for routine compound separations and low-level impurity detection and quantitation.
  • Tunable Ultraviolet (TUV) detector delivers high sensitivity enabling low-level detection for simultaneous quantitation of major and minor components in both routine and complex separations.
  • Alliance iS Bio HPLC System with Waters MaxPeak™ High-Performance Surfaces available to support large molecule analysis and metal-sensitive compounds.

“Error reduction is a major concern for quality control labs, especially those operating in regulated industries where mistakes can lead to delayed product release and wasted productivity,” said Fraser McLeod, Vice President, General Manager, QA/QC, Waters Corporation. “Our delivery of the Waters Alliance iS HPLC System portfolio, now with a full complement of detector options and bio-inert surfaces, offers customers a new level of simplicity and instrument intelligence to QC analyses to support the full gamut of quality and pre-release testing applications.”
